THE GIANT GUTTAKES CENTRE STAGE AT NEW SCIENTIST LIVE 2026!

BIG. BOLD. UNMISSABLE. And what an incredible few days!

After weeks of planning, preparation, coordination and plenty of hard work behind the scenes, Global Healthcare Projects (GHP) arrived at ExCeL London with our star attraction — the Giant Gut — ready to take visitors on a journey into the fascinating world of the gut, the microbiome and human health.

And what a journey it has been!

From the moment our team set off to collect the Giant Gut and bring it to London there was a real sense of excitement. It takes a remarkable team effort to transport, install and bring a 45-foot immersive walk-through educational experience to life. But seeing the finished installation ready to welcome visitors made every bit of the effort worthwhile.

And then the doors opened!

Over the course of New Scientist Live we had the opportunity to engage with people of all ages, bringing the science of the gut and microbiome out of the laboratory and into the real world. Over 12,000 visitors walked through our Giant gut.

For many visitors stepping inside the Giant Gut offered a completely different way of thinking about their bodies. It provided an opportunity to explore the digestive system, discover the incredible community of microorganisms that live in and around us and start asking questions about the relationship between our gut, our health and our everyday lives.

Why is the microbiome attracting so much scientific interest? What do our gut microbes actually do? How might our diet and lifestyle influence this complex ecosystem? And what can we do to look after our gut health?

These are important questions and helping people feel confident enough to ask them is at the heart of what we do.

Because health education shouldn't be complicated, intimidating or forgettable. It should be engaging, accessible and memorable.

At Global Healthcare Projects we believe that one of the most effective ways to communicate complex health information is to make it real. When people can see, explore and experience something for themselves it can open the door to curiosity, conversation and a better understanding of their health.

Our Giant Gut is designed to do exactly that.

It is much more than an inflatable attraction. It is a powerful educational tool, creating opportunities to connect science with everyday life and encouraging people to take a greater interest in their own health and wellbeing.

And this is particularly important when it comes to the microbiome. Scientific understanding is advancing rapidly but public understanding has some way to go. We want to help bridge that gap, bringing reliable health education to communities, schools, workplaces and public events — and making sure that these opportunities are accessible to everyone.

A HUGE THANK YOU!

No experience like this happens without a great deal of work behind the scenes.

A heartfelt thank you to the brilliant New Scientist Live team for inviting GHP to be part of this fantastic celebration of science, discovery and innovation.

Thank you too to our wonderfully diverse and dedicated team whose hard work, energy, enthusiasm and logistical expertise helped make the Giant Gut experience possible.

And of course thank you to every visitor who stepped inside, stopped to chat, asked a question or discovered something new. Your curiosity is precisely why we do what we do.

We are proud to have brought the Giant Gut to New Scientist Live and to have been part of an event that inspires people to look at science — and their own health — in new ways.

SO, WHAT COMES NEXT?

For GHP New Scientist Live is another important step in our ambition to make innovative high-impact health education available to more people.

The Giant Gut is helping us start conversations that matter. We now want to take those conversations further — into communities, schools, workplaces, festivals and public spaces, reaching people who may not otherwise have the opportunity to engage with this kind of health education.

Because our mission is simple: to educate and empower all communities, wherever they are, to make the right choices for longer healthier lives.

The Giant Gut journey continues. And we have plenty more to come!

Watch this space to discover where we’re heading next.

When you see it you remember it!
