The Great Gut

The latest science tells us that almost every aspect of our health, from mental health to disease and cancer prevention, revolves around a healthy gut.

And a healthy gut depends on a healthy microbiome – that invisible world inside our bodies where microbes – fungi, bacteria and viruses - congregate and flourish, breaking down food, training our immune system and even affecting how we feel.

This is our inspiration for Inside Out – the UK’s first Microbiome and Gut Health Festival, which took place in the City of London in September 2025.

The London event marked the start of our intended roadshow to towns and cities.  A national celebration, a new way to think about health and wellbeing.

Welcome to Inside Out online community

Step inside the giant gut

At the heart of the Festival was our exhibition piece, a 40ft inflatable walk through gut. It gives a unique and memorable inside-view of how the microbiome works…from the way our mouths deal with food and drink through to the incredible microbial activity inside our bodies.

Free healthy living insights at our daily Festival events

Alongside the giant gut, there were pavilion stands and expert health advisers, chefs and therapists – all on hand for short talks, demonstrations and free advice. These are now available to watch on our YouTube channel.

We worked with health professionals, community groups, local workers and schools.

We had information on healthy lifestyles and the local City Primary school had a fun afternoon trying different fermented foods and learning about the importance of the gut and how to make good health
choices for future wellbeing. All under the supervision and enthusiasm of  Katharine Tate, The Food Teacher.
